ITC 12/2022 - NETWORK TECHNICIAN (VOIP)

The Department of Information Technology & Computing Services invites applications from suitably qualified, experienced and eligible candidates for the Network Technician (VOIP) position.

CORPORATE INFORMATION
1. Salary Band: F
2. Salary Range: $22,528.74 - $24,261.72
3. Duty Station: Berkeley Crescent, Suva
4. Reporting Responsibilities
     a. Reports to: Data Center Principle Engineer Infrastructure
     b. Subordinates: None.
     c. Liaises with: Network Engineers, Technicians.

POSITION PURPOSE
The purpose of this position is to manage ITCS VOIP operations at ITC Data center. Provide the support and administration ITC VOIP functions for government agency clients in the area.

KEY DUTIES
This position will achieve its purpose through the following key responsibilities;

Acquisition and Deployment:
 Provide technical level advice and recommendation for ITC related procurement requests as per the requirement of the ITCS Procurement policy
 Install and configure VOIP/desktop/laptop on the LAN as well as desktop applications
 Installation of VOIP/network devices for the LAN/WAN
 Support service to customers Operational Management:
 Assist in Community ICT Development work
 Liaise with Service Providers and government agencies to support for network related incidents
 Manage & monitor ITC network
 Provide technical documentations such as asset registers, Implementation Plans, As-Built, Wire map and/or specified within approved procedures.
 Provide updates and monthly reports at the end of every month to Principle Engineer – IT Infrastructure
 To provide the required technical advice and support to government agencies within area of responsibility

KEY PERFORMACE INDICATORS
Performance will be measured through the following indicators;
1. Ensure that assigned requests are completed within the following day.
2. Ensure that assigned incidents are resolved within the following day.
3. Ensure that 100% critical ITC services infrastructure uptime within area of service are monitored and scheduled alternate day checks are carried out on assigned resources.
4. Daily report to be submitted on the approved template at the end of each working day.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
In addition to Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology/Computer Science or equivalent from a recognized institution with Industry certifications, the following Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities required to successfully undertake this role are:

Knowledge And Experience
1. At least 3 or more years’ of relevant IT & networking work experience with strong hands on knowledge of SIP, H323, TCP/IP protocols.
2. Sound knowledge and understanding of cisco routing and switching, Windows Server, Alcatel, NEC and Cloud PABX systems and Windows OS.
3. Working knowledge of virtualization technologies and architecture including Hyper V, server, and network and storage infrastructure in an enterprise network.
4. Sound working knowledge and understanding of VOIP/IP telephony systems, software and hardware including SIP telephony with structured cabling and wiring systems, design and installation
5. Understanding of teams and how to work effectively within a high performing team.

Skills And Abilities
1. Demonstrated ability to manage VOIP network and be able to provide sound technical advice on VOIP matters and have collaborative skills.
2. Demonstrated ability of high caliber to perform all functions according to guidelines and procedures
3. Effective evaluation and must have strong written communication skills.
4. Demonstrated ability to effectively work within a team and be able to meet strict deadline
