• Assisting in provision of technical advice relative to the structural system or systems of telecommunication related projects currently overseen by the Department;
• Coordinating the developing of national policies and plans with various arms of the telecommunications and broadcasting sector;
• Developing of bilateral agreement with other countries to settle operational issues and other matters of mutual interest;
• Compiling briefs and cabinet papers on issues as directed for the perusal of the management and presentation to cabinet and prepare high quality sectorial update reports;
• Maintaining an oversight on service providers on the compliance of their license conditions as well as general compliance to all applicable legislations;
• Working with Telecommunication Authority of Fiji to ensure relevant policies are in place to derive maximum benefit from opportunities that are available in all areas of communications broadband, mobile telecommunications and broadcasting;
• Facilitating licenses in the areas of Spectrum, broadband, mobile telecommunications;
• Finding creative solutions to challenges of network designs, mobile communications, data services requirement, internet and network signaling protocols, re-writing or modifying processes and providing technical guidance. The officer will also act as a focal point of contact with international agencies such as ITU, APT, CTO and UPU.

• A good recognized advanced degree in Engineering/Technology and Computer science with appropriate experience in the field of Telecommunication or Electronics;
• 3-4 years of relevant work experience in Communication sector;
• Knowledge in Analog and Digital Transmission, Telephone network Satellite communication system;
• Understanding of network security and cyber security principles; and
• Understanding of Fijian Constitution (2013) and applicable laws of Fiji.

• Ability to plan, coordinate and monitor respective projects involving design, development and testing;
• Demonstrated ability to meet strict deadlines and ability to work under pressure and long hours;
• Good verbal and written communication and sound customer service;
• Administration and configuration of systems such as LINUX/UNIX,MAC,LINKSYS routers and switches
• Ability to demonstrate good time management;
• Must be available to work in the evenings, weekends and holidays (if required).
