Fiji’s Head of State, His Excellency the President, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, today attended the opening session of the 81st United Nations General Assembly at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
World leaders and representatives have gathered for the annual Assembly to discuss pressing global issues, including peace and security, climate change, sustainable development and international cooperation.
Joining His Excellency were the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Sakiasi Ditoka; Permanent Secretary, Mr. Solo Mara, Fiji’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, H.E. Filipo Tarakinikini; Minister for Environment and Climate Change, Hon. Lynda Tabuya; and Fiji’s Ambassador to the United States of America, H.E. Ratu Ilisoni Vuidreketi.
The General Assembly is the UN’s main deliberative and policymaking body, providing all 193 Member States with an equal platform to address global challenges and advance shared solutions.
