Minister for Information, Environment and Climate Change Hon. Lynda Tabuya today visited Pinto Industries Limited in the Northern Division to see first-hand how recyclable waste is processed and explore ways to strengthen PET recycling in Fiji.
During the visit, the Minister observed its recycling operations and discussed ways to improve the disposal and recycling of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) waste.
She acknowledged the company’s contribution to recycling PET and other recyclable materials, helping reduce waste and support cleaner communities in the North.
The Minister also highlighted Government’s strengthened measures to encourage responsible waste disposal, including the increase of the spot fine for littering from $40 to $200.
