The Public Service Commission (PSC), following the approval of the Hon. Prime Minister, has announced the appointment of three Permanent Secretaries to lead key Government Ministries.
The appointments are:
• Mr Pita Wise – Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Public Enterprises, effective 8 September 2026.
• Mr Solo Naivakarurubalavu Mara – Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, effective 14 September 2026.
• Mr Mitieli Cama – Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development and National Disaster Risk Management, effective 21 September 2026.
PSC Chairman, Mr Luke Rokovada, welcomed the appointments, saying each appointee brings valuable public sector experience, strategic leadership capability and a strong commitment to public service.
“The role of a Permanent Secretary carries significant responsibility for ensuring that Government policies and priorities are translated into effective programmes, services and outcomes,” Mr Rokovada said.
Mr Cama’s appointment will support the delivery of Government services and development initiatives to rural and maritime communities, while strengthening coordination, disaster preparedness, response and resilience.
Mr Mara brings extensive experience in Government, regional affairs, international engagement and stakeholder coordination. His leadership will support Fiji’s foreign policy, economic diplomacy, international trade and engagement with regional and global partners.
Mr Wise will provide strategic leadership and administrative oversight of the Ministry of Public Enterprises, with a focus on strengthening organisational performance, governance, accountability, efficiency and service delivery.
The PSC congratulated the three Permanent Secretaries and expressed confidence that their leadership will contribute to stronger institutional performance, effective policy implementation and the delivery of quality public services for Fijians.
