Staff of the Ministry of Finance led by the Deputy Secretary Budget Ms Asenate Mualaulau today, August 7; toured the Fiji Prisons and Correctional Services (FPCS) facilities at the Suva and Naboro facilities.
The tour was to show them how government money is being used on capital projects and enable them to see the progress of the FPCS commercialisation projects.
Welcoming the staff from the Ministry of Finance, the Fiji Prisons and Correctional Services Commissioner Brigadier Ioane Naivalurua said that he was delightful that they took the opportunity to visit.
"Thank you for blessing us with your visit.
"The purpose for the tour of our facilities is for you to understand how we are using government money.
"We want you to understand that when it comes to government money, we are prudent," Brigadier General Naivalurua said.
The Deputy Commission of Prisons Auta Moceisuva who hosted the visitors at a luncheon at the Suva Women's Prison at the end of the tour, told the finance staff that he hoped the tour was evidence based.
"You are our stakeholders and now you have seen some of our capital projects and the progress, visited some of our commercial sites.
"You have seen how we are using government money to achieve our objectives.
"What we are trying to achieve by 2014 and how we are aligning ourselves to the Prisons and Correctional Act 2006."
