The Fijian Government today received donations worth $5million to assist Fijians with the restoration of basic needs and livelihoods of communities affected by natural disasters.

Officiating at the handover ceremony, the Minister for Agriculture, Rural and Maritime Development, Waterways and Environment Hon. Dr Mahendra Reddy acknowledged the Japanese Government for its timely assistance and continued support.

“This assistance that you have provided today will be utilized by the Ministries to build resilience amongst these communities, so cost of the natural disasters will be minimal. This will also enable the communities to bounce back from these disasters as we have enhanced and protected them through building infrastructure, drainage systems, dealing with flood protection and ensuring that they have better road condition,” Minister Reddy said.
