Eighteen (18) Fijian workers selected under the Australian Seasonal Worker Program (SWP) departed on Tuesday, 22 February, 2022 for Australia.
They will be employed with Global Harvest Pty Ltd in Queensland to work in farms and be engaged in fruit picking, pruning and packing on a nine (9) month employment contract in the horti/agriculture industry.
Out of the 18 Fijian workers, 15 are first time overseas travelers and this was a dream come true for the Vanua Levu Island group, as most of them were from the farming communities in the districts of Tabia, Labasa and Dreketi.
Four (4) females that were also part of the team, were overjoyed to be given the opportunity to work overseas.
Permanent Secretary, Osea Cawaru has also commended Global Harvest Pty Ltd for recruiting from Fiji and he is confident the company will continue to do so in future.
