Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has encouraged Fijians to always be open to new ideas in order to improve current practices.
In his address at the Promex Consulting Pte Ltd Christmas Staff & Client Appreciation Function in Nadi, the A-G stressed the importance of society and the country to be always open to new technology and new methods and ideas, since, over time, expatriate companies bringing new knowledge and expertise to the country will be able to transfer these to domestic companies, which will be able to learn, adapt, and use those technologies, international practices, knowledge base and methods of operation.
The A-G stated that the Fijian Government has always had the approach of liberalising the economy, which means not only opening it up but also allowing Fijian and expatriate companies to participate in a level playing field through which they can work together and assist each other for the benefit of Fiji and all Fijians.
The A-G cited Promex Consulting Pte Ltd as an example of a Fijian company that has benefitted from foreign company exposure.
The AG highlighted that it is essential to continue with the stability and level playing field that the Government has provided to ensure the growth of the private sector, more Fijian entrepreneurs to be created and for more jobs to be created.
He also in acknowledging the success of Promex Consulting Pte Ltd highlighted that an organisation only is as strong as the contribution of its employees. He stated that the greatest asset of any entity is its staff and that the relationship between employer and employee should be symbiotic and one that is beneficial to both.
