A-G MEETS WITH US INSTITUTE FOR SECURITY GOVERNANCE

Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum met with members of the United States Institute for Security Governance (ISG) and the United States Chargé d’Affaires ad interim, Tony Greubel.

During the meeting, the United States Institute for Security Governance experts conveyed their support towards increasing institutional capacity and exploring opportunities for collaboration to promote maritime security resilience within Fiji and the Pacific region.

The A-G highlighted maritime security challenges faced by Pacific Island countries in relation to exclusive economic zones, climate change impacts, transhipment of illicit drugs, institutional capacity, and technological constraints. He proposed potential partnerships with institutions such as the Fiji Maritime Academy to further promote maritime capacity, education, and security.
