Our efforts to protect 30 per cent of Fiji’s Exclusive Economic Zone as Marine Protected Areas by 2030 are well underway.
Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum met with Dr Katheryn Mengerink, Ms Cherie Prothro-Shea, and Ms Ute Zischka of the Waitt Institute to discuss a 5-year work plan intended to support the implementation of Fiji’s National Ocean Policy.
The Waitt Team is visiting Fiji on behalf of the Blue Prosperity Coalition on a scoping mission to undertake wider public consultations on investments in a sustainable ocean economy and ocean management, in partnership with the Ministry of Economy.
This partnership is jointly administered with the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Fisheries to support the ongoing conservation and management of Fiji’s marine environment.
