A SPECIAL DAY FOR STUDENTS OF QVS AND RKS

The Minister for Education, Heritage and Arts Honourable Rosy Akbar today officiated at the groundbreaking ceremony for the two dormitories at Queen Victoria School.
 
The school currently provides boarding accommodation for over 800 students. The two new dormitories will house 200 students and is expected to be completed in May 2021.
 
Concrete Solutions (Fiji) Limited has been engaged through a Government Tender process and will see to the completion of this project which will house 100 beds each, and has a projected amount of approximately 4 million dollars.
 
“This new state of the art construction is testament of the Fijian Government’s commitment towards your education; your parents do not have to pay school fees, or textbooks, and if they qualify then they do not need to pay for transportation to school. Please make the most of these benefits, as these were not available during our time,” Minister Akbar said.
 
On the same note, the Minister distributed specially packaged Fiji-50 50c coins to the students of Queen Victoria School and Ratu Kadavulevu School today.
 
To ensure our children embrace the pride and joy of this historic milestone, each and every child from years 1 to 13 in primary and secondary schools throughout the country will receive these coins.
 
“Your role as the future of the nation in driving national growth has become weightier. Nation building is the collective effort of each one of you as well. Your partnership today will lead to many more successes tomorrow. We have come a long way in these 50 years and we intend to do so in the many years to come,” Minister Akbar said.
