ACTION-BASED LEADERSHIP ENCOURAGED AT NAMAKA PUBLIC SCHOOL

25/02/2026

Leadership is defined by action — not words.

This was the central message delivered by the Minister for Justice and Acting Attorney-General, Hon. Siromi Turaga, when he addressed students, teachers and parents at Namaka Public School yesterday (24.02.26).

Drawing on the school motto, “Deeds Not Words,” Minister Turaga encouraged students to lead by example in their daily conduct, reminding them that leadership is about service, humility and responsibility.

“True leadership is not about being a boss,” he emphasised.
“It is about helping those who are struggling and showing kindness to everyone.”

The Minister noted that young people have the power to influence those around them, with many students looking up to their peers for guidance. He urged them to use their influence positively — through their speech, behaviour and the way they treat others.

Highlighting the importance of holistic education, Minister Turaga commended Namaka Public School for nurturing character alongside academic achievement. Referencing 1 Timothy 4:12, he encouraged students to set an example in speech, conduct, love and faith, regardless of their age.

The address was delivered during the school’s 2026 Prefects’ Induction Ceremony, where 120 student leaders were formally appointed from a roll of 1,400 students in recognition of their hard work, exemplary behaviour and positive attitude.

Minister Turaga also acknowledged the dedication of parents, guardians and teachers, led by Head of School Mr. Arvind Kumar, stating that student success reflects the strong values instilled both at home and in the classroom.

He concluded by congratulating the newly appointed leaders and encouraging them to serve with courage, compassion and integrity as they take on their responsibilities for the academic year ahead.
