ALL SCHOOLS TO REMAIN CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

31/01/2021

The Ministry of Education, Heritage and Arts wishes to advise all heads of schools, teachers, students, parents and guardians that all schools nationwide will remain closed until further notice.

All students, teachers and ancillary staff are requested to remain at home.

In view of the current weather situation report, we advise parents and guardians to closely monitor the movement of their children and keep them indoors and away from flood waters.

Minister for Education Rosy Akbar urges people residing in low lying areas, coastal areas and flood prone areas to move to higher grounds or to the nearest Evacuation Centre if necessary.

The Ministry will advise the public through a media announcement when schools will reopen, as many schools are currently being used as Evacuation Centres.

Hon. Minister Akbar says, “We expect parents to be vigilant and exercise caution when moving to safer zones. The safety of our loved ones is paramount and we are concerned about the well-being of all Fijians. I urge parents to monitor the movement of their children even when at Evacuation Centres. Please remain safe”.

Please follow the weather bulletin for further updates and keep yourselves well informed of any developments.
