The Ambassador of Switzerland, Michael Winzap, presented his credentials to His Excellency, the President, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere at the State House today (20/07/22).
Ambassador Winzap graduated in political science from Concordia University, Montreal, Canada.
He started his diplomatic career in 1992 serving at the Embassy of Switzerland in Ankara, Turkey.
Since then, Ambassador Winzap has served in various posts, including posts in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, the Republic of Iraq, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He has also held various positions at the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs in Bern.
On 14 December 2018, the Swiss Federal Council appointed Michael Winzap, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to New Zealand, the Cook Islands, Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, and Tuvalu, with residence in Wellington.
