ANOTHER 30 FIJIAN WORKERS TO DEAPRT FOR AUSTRALIA SOON

Another 30 Fijian workers selected under the Australia Pacific Labour Scheme (PLS) will depart for Australia on 11th February and 14th February 2022 respectively.
 
Of the 30 workers, 28 will be employed with an employer, MADEC in Victoria and engaged in fruit picking, packing and pruning for a 9 months contract under the agriculture industry while 2 will be employed with an employer, Ararat, Victoria for a 3 years contract under the meat works industry.
 
While bidding farewell to the group last Friday (05/02/2022), the Permanent Secretary for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations, Osea Cawaru reemphasised the importance of teamwork, instilling good values and performing their best during their stay in Australia.
 
“All employer’s preference is to have quality workers, one who is a disciplined individual, honest, dedicated and with a positive attitude at all times,” said Mr. Cawaru.
 
“These good qualities will surely make employers to recruit more Fijians, creating a positive spin-offs to families.”
 
“For these labour mobility programs to thrive, you are the key to more employment opportunities for our unemployed Fijians in the future,” added PS Cawaru.
 
Mr. Cawaru sincerely thanked all Fijians deployed under the scheme for their commitment during their previous and present deployment, which has resulted in the increased number of Fijians currently selected to work in Australia.
 
PS Cawaru clarified that the processing of registration applications and selection is done on a “first in – first out” basis.
 
He added that there are a few areas they will need to review immediately.
