The Public Service Commission, with the agreement of the Prime Minister, has announced the appointment of Mr. Navin Raj Shayam as Permanent Secretary for Education, stated Luke Rokovada, Chairman of the Public Service Commission.
Mr. Shayam has extensive experience in Education and has served as Principal and Head of School at Jai Narayan College for ten years. He has served in various capacities in teaching and learning. He has also worked in various capacities in the private and public sectors and is currently member of various Boards and Councils such as the Fiji National University Council; Fijian Holdings Trustees Ltd; Fijian Holdings Fund Management Ltd; and Fiji Television Ltd.
Mr. Navin Shayam has a degree in Science from the University of the South Pacific and has completed a Masters in Business Administration also at the University of the South Pacific. He is currently pursuing PhD studies with Monash University in Australia.
Mr. Shayam will take up his new role from middle of July, 2025, stated Rokovada.
