ASSISTANT MINISTER FOR WOMEN, CHILDREN AND SOCIAL PROTECTIOB SUPPORT LOCAL WOMEN'S GROUP IN LABASA

The Assistant Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Sashi Kiran, visited the Veidehi Women’s Club in the Nabekavu Indian Community, Labasa to hand over essential kitchen items aimed at empowering local women in efforts to support their advancing collectively as a community.

The assistance illustrates the Coalition Government’s ongoing efforts to promote gender equity, equality, social justice and sustainable development in the hopes to uplift women and children across Fiji.

As the Assistant Minister engaged with the members of the women’s group, who expressed their gratitude for the support, it was noted that all members of the Veidehi Women’s Club are recipients of social protection scheme allowances, highlighting government's commitment to supporting vulnerable communities.

Hon. Kiran shared that, “When we invest in women—whether through kitchenware or broader policies - we create a positive ripple effect. Their economic contributions circulate, benefiting families, neighbourhoods, and society at large. As we celebrate this equipment handover, let’s recognize that women’s empowerment isn’t just about the present; it’s an investment in a brighter, more equitable future,” stated the Assistant Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection.
