The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Hon. Viliame Gavoka was briefed by the Fiji Airways management board and the Fiji Airways Hangar board on the organisation process and areas that need improvement during his second day in the Western division.
Minister Gavoka was accompanied by Assistant Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Hon. Alitia Bainivalu along with the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Hon. Siromi Turaga.
The government delegation were given a tour of the Fiji Airways Academy and were shown how the pilots are trained ensuring the best safety methods provided by Fiji Airways.
They also visited the Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji and were accorded a traditional welcome ceremony.
Minister Gavoka acknowledged the staff at CAAF for their continuous hardwork over the years.
“You are responsible for regulating aviation in this country. And safety is very much a huge part of the equation in the tourism industry.”
In addition, he pointed out that both organizations have a good reputation internationally and credited their staff and members for that.
