Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Hon. Professor Biman Prasad received a warm welcome in Nadi on Saturday (05-07-25) as the 2025–2026 National Budget drew praise from both traditional and business leaders during a Post-Budget Symposium hosted by the Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The Chamber applauded the Government’s bold and people-focused approach, describing the budget as practical, balanced, and aligned with national development goals.
Tui Nawaka Ratu Joeli Derenalagi also commended the budget’s incentives, particularly those aimed at supporting ordinary Fijians.
“This is a budget that speaks to the needs of our people,” he said, adding that the government’s targeted investments in infrastructure, health, and education will benefit communities across the country.
DPM Prasad outlined the government’s long-term fiscal vision, emphasising unity, resilience, and shared responsibility as key to sustaining Fiji’s economic momentum.
“This is not just a budget to manage the present. It’s a blueprint for where we want Fiji to be by 2050,” he told attendees at the Post-Budget Symposium hosted by the Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
“We are laying the groundwork for a high-income economy, not by accident, but by design. We cannot succeed if the government works alone,” he added.
“We need our civil service to be responsive, the private sector to be bold, and communities to continue raising their voices, because a strong, resilient Fiji requires all of us.”
Held under the theme “Moving Fiji Forward,” the forum brought together business leaders, community representatives, and development partners.
