CIVIL SERVICE MORE THAN A JOB - LEDUA

03/09/2020

‘The civil service is more than a job. It is a calling. The work we do every day is an act of both public service and patriotism.’

This was highlighted by the Commissioner Western Mr Mesake Ledua during his meeting with the Nadi District Heads of Departments in Nadi today.

Mr Ledua reminded the Heads of Departments that the Fijian Government is counting on them to set priorities and directions and at the same time execute programmes that will help raise the standard of living for Fijians that reside in the Western Division.

"You are the critical link between the government and the people, you possess institutional knowledge and have the technical expertise to perform your tasks,” Mr Ledua said.

"Our people need you, and they have the right to expect that you will dedicate yourselves to their wellbeing.”

The Commissioner Western also highlighted that civil servants must take personal pride in their work and also ensure that they carry out their duties well.

Mr Ledua also acknowledged the work carried out by the Heads of Departments and members of their team in the District of Nadi especially during this pandemic.

“I must take this time to thank you for all the work well done in the last financial year. While we may be impressed with the end result, we should not lose sight of how those results were achieved.”
