The Public Service Commission continues to give priority to ethics and discipline issues pertaining to civil servants in its monthly meeting.
Public Service Commission chairman Mr Josefa Serulagilagi said that the Commission treats cases involving abuse, mismanagement, indiscipline and negligence with utmost seriousness and, through a fair and due process of natural justice, deals with these cases expeditiously and decisively.
For the year to date there were at least 83 cases of indiscipline received by the PSC of which 46 cases were still awaiting submissions from the respective ministries. There are 26 cases pending before the Court and 12 awaiting the decision of both the PSC Disciplinary Tribunal and the Commission.
The Commission dealt with six cases in its June meeting.
