COMMISSIONERS FAREWELLED

A combined experience of over 100 years has come to an end after three Divisional Commissioners for the Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development were farewelled yesterday by the Ministry and senior officials of government.
 
Retired Commissioner Eastern, Luke Moroivalu, Retired Commissioner Western Joji Satakala and Retired Commissioner Northern Jovesa Vocea were accorded a full traditional ceremony at the I-Taukei Trust Fund Board Lounge in Nasese following more than 30 years of service.
 
While farewelling the three Commissioners, Minister for Agriculture, Rural and Maritime Development, Waterways and Environment, Hon Dr Mahendra Reddy says that these Commissioners have without doubt sacrificed a lot, even compromising quality time with their families because of their commitment as a Civil Servant. 
 
Moroivalu has served for 36 years, Vocea served for 37 years while Satakala served as a civil servant for 30 years.
 
Minister Reddy highlighted some of their outstanding achievements including the Rural Millionaire Program in Gau for Moroivalu, the implementation of the new Kubulau Government Station and the Wainikoro Government station for Vocea and the strong persona from Satakala which depicts his leadership role.
 
Reddy also commended their efforts during natural disasters and acknowledged their decision making during tough times for the different divisions.
 
Meanwhile Acting as Commissioner Eastern is Mr Inoke Tuiwainunu. Acting as Commissioner Northern is Mr Uraia Rainima while Mr Jone Bacau is currently Acting as Commissioner Western Division.
