An i-Taukei ceremony of welcome that was recently presented by students of Nawaicoba Public School was commended by the Ministry of Education, National Heritage, Culture, Arts and Library Services.
The Ministry’s permanent secretary said Dr Brij Lal was impressed with i-Sevusevu presentation carried out by the students of the school.
Dr. Brij Lal lauded the staff, teachers and parents of the school in the excellent preparation and display of the ceremonial culture of welcome by the primary school students.
“I commend the staff, teachers and parents in your initiative and effort in ensuring that this tradition is carried out. There is no other place in the world that you will see this practice of welcome being carried out,” he said.
“Fiji is unique with its own culture and is increasingly influenced by the rapid change brought in by globalisation and its development. It is imperative that we do all we can to sustain and preserve it,” said Dr Lal.
This comment came in the wake of the student’s impressive presentation before the opening of the new computer lab in Nawaicoba Public School last week on the 24th of April.
