Complaints will be dealt with

The Ministry of Health advises the General Public that if they have complaints about Medical Practitioners then these will be addressed prompt and fully this year.

If there are queries about Private Practitioners fee schedules, a detailed report along with copy of receipts for services rendered will assist the Ministry of Health/Fiji College of General Practitioners undertake an assessment of complaints.

General Practitioners are advised of the Medical and Dental Practice Decree which has been approved by Cabinet on 15th December, 2009.

The decree gives the Fiji College of General Practitioners a legal footing and the Fiji Medical Council is vigilant to unscrupulous practices which will be addressed.

Dispersing by General Practitioners is only allowed for practices which are more than five (5) kilometers from a pharmacy. Emergency and over right dispersing is allowable in genuine cases.  Dispersing procedure should be followed stringently according to the Pharmacies Act.

Complaints with respect to General Practitioners should be made to the Consumer Council and copied to the Secretary Fiji College of General Practitioners or the Secretary of the Fiji Medical Council.

Complaints with respect to Government doctors should be directed to the Secretary, Fiji Medical Council.
