Complete all projects this year - Ministry warns Forms 3 and 5

25/10/2009

When external examinations start rolling next week, the Education Ministry, as part of its advisory role, would like to remind everyone at school, that Term 3 ends on December 4 and that everyone is expected to be in school till this date.

The Ministry would like to warn students that they must continue to go to school, especially for those who should be working on completing their projects. The Ministry is aware of the Internal Assessment components for FJC and FSLC, which this year’s Forms 3 and 5 must settle before they depart for the holidays.

These tasks and projects contribute significantly to students’ final aggregate in the external examinations next year.

The beginning of next year should be a fresh start for everyone and for those who do not complete their tasks this year, that would be an unnecessary burden for teachers who have to start the new year’s syllabus, but would be bogged down expediting the completion of those late tasks.

This has been an ongoing problem for teachers of these two forms. While we still have time to address this, the Ministry requests all Forms 3 and 5 to put more effort in the completion of these important tasks. Thus the need to attend all classes till the end of Term 3 as most lessons would focus on settling the year’s syllabus and completion of these tasks.

The Ministry is also hopeful that parents would come out in full support of their children in these two forms. At times, students might ask for money to pay for photocopying materials or to visit work stations to obtain information. These are times, in which the Ministry is requesting parental love and assistance towards their children.

On the same note, the Education Ministry kindly requests the support of government departments, statutory bodies and work stations to assist students who might arrive at your offices requesting for information to complete their projects.

Finally, with our support and full commitment towards our children’s education, Fiji looks set to open windows of opportunities to develop and move our nation forward.
