The First Home Ownership Assistance Initiative is now fully digital, making the path to homeownership faster, more transparent, and easier than ever before.
Supported by the Australian Government through the Vuvale Partnership Program, the first-ever Ministry of Housing’s new digital platform is a significant milestone in the ongoing journey to modernise and simplify the First Home Ownership Grant application process.
Speaking at the launch of the portal today (10:07:25), the Minister for Housing and Local Government Hon. Maciu Nalumisa said the Resource Optimisation Sub-Committee initiated a digitisation drive in 2024 in response to the increasing demand for housing support—a move designed to streamline processes, eliminate outdated paper-based procedures, and ultimately deliver faster and more efficient services.
“Traditionally, the Ministry managed First Home Grant applications using a manual, paper-based method, which led to receiving a large number of document submissions from financial institutions for assessments and verifications,” Minister Nalumisa stated.
“As technology continues to shape how we communicate, learn, work, and access services, it’s only right that our systems evolve too. This portal is a symbol of that advancement.”
Minister Nalumisa said with the centralised data now readily accessible through the portal, both the Ministry and respective financial institutions would be able to make more timely and informed decisions.
“Today, we mark a transformative leap forward. We are officially shifting from paper to digitisation, embracing the efficiency, transparency, and convenience of a digital-first solution.”
He acknowledged the support rendered by the Australian Government and the Business Process Improvement Team.
“The launch of this portal is a testament to the power of collaboration, and it reflects our shared commitment to delivering smarter, faster, and more accessible housing services for all Fijians.”
