The government district office in the western division is assisting the Fiji National Provident Fund in identifying eligible candidates for assistance from the fund.
The FNPF is conducting a mobile exercise and touring the western division to identify those eligible for assistance.
The district office in Lautoka has already issued a list of affected members to the FNPF team and will assess those eligible.
Earlier this month, the fund’s board approved the re-activation of the natural disaster partial withdrawal scheme for its members who were affected by the floods that wreaked havoc in Western Viti Levu.
FNPF Chief Executive Office, Mr Aisake Taito stated that the board’s approval was based on humanitarian grounds to provide some relief to affected members.
“As a corporate citizen, the FNPF has a social responsibility to assist our members re-build their lives after the devastation of the flood,” Mr Taito said.
He said that while the Fund encouraged its members to save for retirement, it also has a responsibility to ensure members’ needs are met especially in times of natural disasters.
He said that FNPF would liaise with Government officials in the West to determine those that will be assisted.
