DON’T GIVE UP IN ANY SITUATION, ALWAYS LOOK FOR SOLUTIONS

16/01/2020

If we puts our heads together and are committed, we will do justice to the people we serve.

These were the words of Minister for Education, Heritage and Arts Hon. Rosy Akbar during the Suva District Head of Schools Meeting at St Joseph Secondary School Hall, Suva today.

“As teachers a lot of trust has been placed on us, no matter what we do, it might fall short of expectations but keep doing your best.”

Minister Akbar added that the benchmark the public has set for teachers is really high but as educators, they should not be daunted by it and keep doing their best.

“We want to form very respectful relationship with you all here and you need to do that with your students and their parents.”

“As team Suva, let step up for 2020, let’s go out of the way to see that we make a difference in our institutions and let’s set higher benchmarks for 2020.”

“I see 2020 as a year of opportunity, as a year of hope and as a year of celebration.”

Minister Akbar said the Ministry stands ready to walk with the teachers and schools through their journey this year.

“Smile at the challenge, enter your schools with a smile, walk out of school with the exact same energy, that is what makes a good leader.”

“Don’t give up in any situations, always look for solutions, we need to understand that our children are not the same children when we were at school.”

“You have to work with school organisations, you have to work with faith based organisations and you need to work with the Government of the day and work with our policies and the vision that we have.”

Minister Akbar added that the Heads of Schools must always remember that they are a part of the Ministry of Education team.

“If we put our heads together and we are all committed to the course, I am sure we will do justice to the people we serve.”
