The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Honourable Viliame Gavoka, is currently attending the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Facilitation Conference (FALC25) in Doha, Qatar, from 9 to 11 April 2025.
He is accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, as well as the Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji. Senior executives from Fiji Airports Limited are also attending this key global aviation forum.
The ICAO FALC25, hosted and sponsored by the State of Qatar, convenes aviation ministers and leaders from around the world to enhance collaboration and promote more seamless, secure, and efficient air travel. Under the theme "Facilitating the Future of Air Transport", the conference provides a timely platform for reaffirming ICAO Member States' commitment to modernising border management, enhancing traveller identification systems, and embracing innovation in civil aviation.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation will deliver Fiji’s statement on Thursday, 17 April 2025, contributing to the development of the Doha Ministerial Declaration—an important roadmap aimed at enhancing international cooperation on passenger data exchange, digital identity management, and facilitation standards across borders.
On the sidelines of the ICAO FAL25, DPM Gavoka engaged in bilateral discussions with his counterparts from Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates during the first two days of the conference, reinforcing aviation partnerships and exploring opportunities for capacity building, technical support, and investment in Fiji’s air infrastructure.
Fiji's participation in FALC 2025 underscores its leadership and proactive engagement within the Pacific aviation community, ensuring the nation remains well-connected and competitive in an evolving global aviation landscape.
