In an inspiring address at “a collaborative Evening” Tourism Share Event held at Yatule Resort and Spa, Deputy Prime Minister and Acting Minister for Tourism Manoa Kamikamica, underscored the significance of collaboration in driving Fiji’s economic growth.
The event, attended by industry leaders, entrepreneurs, amongst other esteemed guests, showcased the vital role of tourism in economic development and the need for synergistic efforts between tourism and trade sectors.
DPM Kamikamica emphasised the theme of the evening, which reflects a collective commitment to rebuilding and expanding Fiji’s economy.
“Tourism is not just a sector; it’s a cornerstone of economic growth,” DPM Kamikamica stated.
“The impact of tourism extends beyond direct spending, creating a ripple effect that stimulates local economies and various sectors, including agriculture and transport.”
Tour Managers Fiji, a leading destination management company, was lauded for its 30-year legacy of providing high-quality inbound tour services and for exemplifying the potential of micro and small enterprises to contribute significantly to the broader economy.
The Deputy Prime Minister praised Tour Managers’ success, noting that their growth is a testament to the potential of local enterprises to scale and impact the economy positively.
“This success story is not just about growth but about how Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises can shape the future of their business and the economy,” added DPM Kamikamica.
Highlighting ongoing Government initiatives, the Minister outlined the Ministry’s efforts to foster economic growth.
“We are facilitating 185 domestic and foreign investment projects valued at approximately $6 billion. These projects span various sectors and stages, symbolizing investor confidence in Fiji,” he revealed.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasised the importance of supporting Micro, Small, and Medium enterprises (MSMEs), which form the backbone of Fiji’s economy.
“With MSMEs making up around 72% of registered businesses, their contribution to tourism and local economies is crucial. MSMEs offer authentic cultural experiences and promote local products, enriching our tourism sector and benefiting from it in return.”
“The Farm to Fork Initiative, a transformative programme integrating local agricultural production with tourism, was highlighted as a strategic approach to boost culinary tourism and promote sustainable practices. This initiative aims to create economic benefits and support local communities."
