The deaths resulting from cyclone Tomas has now increased to 3.
This has been confirmed by Operations officer DISMAC, Anthony Blake at a press conference this afternoon while providing the updates on assessment progress.
He said the National Disaster Management Office hopes that the numbers do not rise and more updates can be provided after the assessments have been completed.
“It is unfortunate that death toll has increased to 3, we have report of a male who has drowned in Vanua Levu up in Seqaqa and also Rabi Islander who lost his life after a tree fell on his house at the height of the cyclone,” Blake said.
“So death toll is 3, we hope this does not rise any further but this all depends on how the assessments go with our ground teams."
