The Prime Ministers Office today handed $37,835.00 worth of equipment to Ratu Varani Primary School of Nakasaleka in Kadavu

The items includes a boat and engine, a generator, two computers and a printer.

Deputy Secretary - Rotuma Affairs in the PM’s Office, Tomasi Tui officiated in the handing over today to Assistant School Manager, Emosi Mulevoro.

Mr Tui said the donation would assist the school in conducting classes for the children and especially during the evening sessions in which the generators would be needed to source electricity into the classrooms.

Mr Tui is of the view that the new equipment would enable good grades for the students and urged that the school use the items and manage it properly.

Assistant school manager, Emosi Mulevoro on behalf of the school committee acknowledged the assistance saying that the items would greatly assist the students and the teachers alike.

“On behalf of the school committee, I would like to thank the Government especially the Prime Ministers office and to the Prime Minister himself for the kind donation,” said.

“As you know our school is far from the hospital, some of the children in the nearby villagers are boarders – so the donation is timely in particular the boat and engine will be used to take the children to their respective villagers at the end of the week and also help in the transportation of the children’s food to the school,” Mr Mulevoro said.

Highlighting the many difficulties faced by the school and the many years the school committee and villagers have struggled to raise funds, Mr Mulevoro believes without Government’s assistance- the school would not achieved what they wanted to achieve.
