The Minister of Youth and Sports Mr Viliame Naupoto stressed the importance of choices made by young women, as Chief Guest at the recent International Women’s Day celebrations at Tailevu North.
“Life is all about choices. The woman you become later in life, depends very much on the choices you make and continue to make as you develop. One very important tool in you making choices is to be educated. Being well educated will allow you to make the right choices that will make you the dynamic women who will help steer this country into the future”, Minister Naupoto said.
“The Ministry of Youth and Sports’ National Youth Policy aims to provide an enabling environment where youth development is mainstreamed into the focal areas of national development. Through the Seeds of Success program, young women are empowered to realize and fulfill their goals”
The Ministry also recognises the potential that sports can play in advancing the talents of gifted young women. Girls have amazed us with their talents, and have taken their rightful place on the netball court, soccer field and hockey turf amongst other places. The Ministry of Youth and Sports provides grants to National Sporting Bodies for overseas scholarships, international tournaments and overseas tours that will benefit young women in sports’ he added.
