EDUCATION MINISTER ENCOURAGES PUBLIC TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ROADSHOW

27/01/2014

Members of the public will be able to access services from the Ministry of Education during the ministry’s road show at the Government Services Centre (GSC) this week.

Minister for Education, Filipe Bole said this road show is an outgrowth of the Public Service Week implemented by Government with the aim to assist the public in understanding the work carried out by the ministry.

“It is an ambitious programme and is aimed at informing the general public on the questions of accessibility, affordability and equity of and in education,” Minister Bole said as he opened today’s event at the former Fiji Visitors Bureau office in Suva.

“These questions have become very extremely important and of very high profile because of the advent of free education introduced for the first time in Fiji by the Bainimarama government this year,” Mr Bole said.

Meanwhile, the ministry also launched their Annual Corporate Plan, Business Plan and new textbooks to be used in schools across the country.

Students in primary and secondary level will be able to access new revised textbooks from their schools to improve learning in classrooms.

“These books are also being printed to support the National Curriculum Framework, which had been deferred because of the lack of supporting resources and textbooks,” Mr Bole said.
