“Our students are going to give their very best and they're going to show all of us the true meaning of the resilient Fijian spirit.”
This was highlighted by Minister for Education, Premila Kumar during the official opening of the 2022 Coca-Cola Games at the HFC Bank Stadium today (18/08/22).
“The Fijian spirit is renowned all over the world. The Fijian spirit means that we don't give up and it means that first and foremost, we care for each other, throughout the course of this competition we must show good sportsmanship,” she said.
Minister Kumar said having competitions like this was made possible as the result of our bravery and our strategy to beat the COVID-19 pandemic. She thanked all Fijians for assisting in the vaccination campaign.
“Your efforts have made Fiji safer for all of us and that's why we can sit next to one another and watch this game,” Minister Kumar said.
She reminded all athletes, students, and supporters to maintain discipline at all times for their safety and the safety of fellow Fijians.
The Coca-Cola Games will conclude on Saturday (20/08/22).
