EDUCATION MINISTER PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO THE HEADQUARTERS OF THE METHODIST CHURCH IN FIJI

11/01/2023

The courtesy visit to the headquarters of the Methodist Church in Fiji early this morning was a great way to begin the mid-week.

The Minister for Education, Hon. Aseri Radrodro, Assistant Minister, Hon. Sovui Vanawalu along with the Permanent Secretary, Dr Anjeela Jokhan, MOE Senior Officials and Senior Educationists met with the President and the General Secretary of the Methodist Church in Fiji and team this morning.

The two parties discussed ways to strengthen the partnership between the Ministry and the Church and of course other Faith Based Organisations and this will definitely support the Ministry’s vision in providing quality education for change, peace and progress.

The support provided to the Ministry by such a body will guarantee that the Ministry, through the schools, offers a holistic and empowering education system that will enable all children to fully understand and appreciate their inheritance and potential contributing to peaceful and sustainable development.

The Coalition Government is currently in a transitional stage where current policies such as the OMRS guideline are being reviewed, thus the Ministry of Education will give priority to fostering its relationship with the church and other faith-based organisations.

The current leadership is aware that religious freedom is the most fundamental of all human rights and that it needs to be supported.

The Ministry of Education intends to conduct an education summit to confer with relevant parties, such as representatives of faith-based organisations, about how successfully issues connected to children's education are addressed.
