Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations Hon. Jone Usamate received a courtesy call from Hortus Limited, a new employer under the New Zealand Recognised Seasonal Employer (RSE) Work Scheme.
The Human Resource Managers for the company Mr James Crockett and Mr Aaron Jay are here in Fiji to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the Government of New Zealand and the Fijian Government through their labour mobility scheme.
Minister Usamate thanked the new employer and welcomed their efforts in boosting relations between the two countries and for choosing Fiji to recruit from.
“This is the first time for us to try out Fijians to work for the company; currently we have been recruiting from Vanuatu, Samoa and Tonga and this has resulted in having a high retention rate of workers from these Pacific Island countries,” Mr Jay said.
“We’ve been waiting for Fiji to be involved for a very long time."
Hortus Ltd is here to recruit the right workers who have good attitudes, are good listeners and are hard working.
The company was set up to supply labour, machinery and an experienced management group to all growers in the Horticulture and Viticulture industries who require a professional company like Hortus to complete tasks to the highest standard.
The Minister wished them well for the interview and stated that the Fijian Government through the Ministry of Employment looks forward to a long and fruitful partnership.
The employers are on a two day visit to interview potential workers from the Tikina work ready pool for selection and discussion on the recruitment of ten male workers.
