29/07/2022

As part of the Ministry corporate social responsibly, the Permanent Secretary for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations, Osea Cawaru and the Employment Ministry staff today made donations in support of the Fiji Cancer Society Toiletry Drive which ends on the 29th of July 2022.

While handing over the collected donated items on Wednesday, Mr Cawaru said that this was part of the kind contribution made by the Ministry staff in support of the cancer patients in Fiji.

“We sincerely hope that this will assist cancer patients. This is the little that we can contribute as part of the Ministry’s Corporate Social Responsibilities,” said Mr Cawaru

Mr Cawaru also expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Employment staff for their donations and their commitment to contribute to a worthy cause.

“Today was normally a wellness afternoon for the Ministry staff but we have dedicated this time to the Fiji Cancer Society Toiletry Drive in handing over the little that we have collected.”

The donations were well received by the representatives of the Fiji Cancer Society, Ms Katarina Wasarua and Ms Grace Tuvakasiga who were grateful to the Ministry for the kind contribution.

“On behalf of our CEO, board members and trustees, we would like to say thank you to the Ministry of Employment staff for your donations towards the Fiji Cancer Society Toiletry Drive. For us at the Fiji Cancer Society, every year we register around 300 patients but so far this year we’ve registered around 93 cancer patients. Even though it’s a small amount but trust me, it means a lot to our cancer patients especially those admitted in the hospital. On behalf of our staff and patients at the Fiji Cancer Society, thank you so much. And thank you for reminding our cancer patients that they are not alone,” said Ms Tuvakasiga.
