In efforts to strengthen disaster risk resilience and climate change mitigation strategies, 23 participants from the villages of Nasinu, Silana, Delakado, Natadradave, Driti, Dranu, Burelevu, Namena, Nananu, Sawakasa #2, and Burerua gathered at the Nananu Village Hall to attend a Food and Preservation Training for Tikina Sawakasa, Namena, Tailevu.
The training, facilitated by Live and Learn, focused on teaching participants indigenous food preservation techniques, promoting climate-resililient gardening methods, and identifying local crops suited for income generation. The hands-on sessions aimed to equip the participants with practical skills that will strengthen food security and environmental sustainability.
Officers from the Department of Women Central Division office also conducted a session, highlighting the importance of using and preserving what we already have at home, ensuring food security, sustainability for the future, product specifications and the importance of a saving plan.
This collaborative initiative represents a critical step in empowering women and strengthening community resilience. By investing in knowledge-sharing and sustainable practices, communities are better prepared to adapt to climate-related challenges and encourage self-reliance.
