EVACUATION CENTRES DOWN TO 15

The National disaster Management Office has been informed on the decrease in the number of evacuation centres in the western division.

The 15 evacuation centres currently operational are in Ba (1), Nadi (4), Lautoka (5), Nadroga (4) and Tavua (1).

The total number of people living in evacuation centres has also reduced to 872 with 535 adults and 337 children in the 15 centres.

Meanwhile, a military monitoring and surveillance aircraft – the French Guardian will arrive at the Nadi international airport at 3.00pm today to help assist with the damage assessment.

The arrival of the surveillance aircraft is expected to aid Government in thoroughly assessing the damages.
