Economic improvement to pave way to 2014 election
Economic improvement to pave way to 2014 election
05/06/2011
The Prime Minister Commodore Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama today thanked members of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces for helping bring about changes that will assist Fiji to prepare for elections in 2014
“These changes should not only take us forward to a better Fiji in 2014 but to take us forward to a better Fiji for the sake our children and our grand children,” he said in itaukei language during a military parade at QEB.
Commodore Bainimarama said these changes have led to positive growth in Fiji’s economy.
“Our economy, our foreign reserve keeps on increasing reaching 1.4 billion today. We’ve been over the $1 billion mark for quite a while,” Commodore Bainimarama said.

Commodore Bainimarama said the Reserve Bank of Fiji recently announced that Fiji’s economy rose from 1.3 per cent to 2.7 per cent.
“It is a result of our mobilizing our economy.”
He said mobilizing our economy, to realize our true potential, is one of the major priorities of Government before we reach the election deadline.
