The Education Minister, Mr Filipe Bole, today has called on radio stations to be accurate, fair and responsible in their reporting.
In an interview with a radio station today on how Ratu Kadavulevu School will recover their lost one-week teaching time, the Minister stated that the school can take one week off their 2 Term holidays, as a measure.
The radio station then goes on to put a sensationalized twist to this statement by saying that RKS students will now miss the Hibiscus Festival to recover lost teaching time.
This is absolutely unfair and biased reporting!!!
Time and again, the Ministry has been informing the media that teachers will know how best they could recover lost teaching time.
RKS has 13 weeks for that. Taking one week off their Term 2 holidays is just one of the options.
Making a sob story out of RKS students missing the Hibiscus Festival is just not fair!!
