Education Ministry begins second assessment of Transport Assistance

02/02/2010

A special team of Education officials have begun the processing of Transport Assistance Forms in order to ascertain students who will be eligible for free transport coupons.

To date, the Ministry has received forms from all the 8 Education Districts, however, the Ministry understands that some schools have staggered their enrolment days, as this would delay the submission of their forms.

Delays in submissions would also affect the processing of transport coupons and in this regard, the Ministry is banking on teachers’ active engagement in the enrolment processes at school.

Teachers, being the students’ first point of contact, would be responsible for making the first assessment and this is a critical exercise, which the Ministry trusts will be treated with great care.

Schools are also reminded that these forms must be completed at school and by all means, parents need to be contacted, if there are discrepancies or unfilled spaces in the forms.

The Ministry trusts that parents and teachers will work together so that these forms are submitted as soon as possible at the schools’ respective District Education Offices.

Schools are expected to start receiving this assistance by February 15, 2010.
