Education Ministry sets record straight

13/03/2011

The Education Ministry is setting the record straight over a call made by the Niusawa Methodist High School Vice Principal on the government to improve the standards of teachers quarters as reported in the local media.

The Education Ministry says Niusawa Methodist High School belongs to the Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma and not Government.

Therefore any developments to be made in the school  is the responsibility of the Methodist Church.

Consequently, any call for the renovations of teachers’ quarters or electrification of the school must be directed to them.

The Ministry of Education however says, last year (2010) about $100,447 was given to the school by Government.

About $31,297.77 of that amount was for tuition grant while $69,151.23 was for development.

The school can check with the management for verification.

The school will also receive its allocated quota this year.
