Education Ministry to showcase services at Government Information Referral Centre (GIRC)

The Ministry of Education will be showcasing all its services at the Government Information Referral Centre (former Fiji Visitors Bureau building) from next Monday to Saturday (6 – 11 September, 2010).

During the opening programme the Minister for Education, Mr. Filipe Bole, will personally respond to queries on education from the general public.

The Permanent Secretary and Section Directors will man the station during the week.

Mr. Bole said this was an excellent opportunity for members of the public to understand and be aware of the functions of the different sections of the Education Ministry.

The following services will be offered during the week:
 
a.      Radio broadcast recorded programmes
b.      Displays- posters and models
c.       Literature, DVD Movies and Documentaries
d.      Invited speakers
e.      Advice on procedures and guidelines for:
i
)     Request for Education Resource Centre (ERC) materials ii) Request for School Broadcasting Unit (SBU) materials
iii
)     Registration at Fiji Teachers Registration Board iv) Registration of schools  v) Registration of local and overseas tertiary institutions
vi
)   Requests for grants vii) In-service training information
f.       Respond to  queries
g.      Counseling and career talks
h.     Distribution of print information such as brochures
i.       Talk-back shows and interviews
j.       Meet with Ministry senior management team
 
Mr. Bole said education was everyone’s concern and this was one forum where educational issues could be clarified, and submissions made to enhace education.
