Erect road signs to alert motorists

17/03/2011

The Ministry of Education is calling on relevant authorities to erect road signs close to schools to alert motorists.

“Our schools by the main roads need to have road signs planted close to them to alert motorists,” Education Minister, Mr Filipe Bole said.

“It is also advisable for speed signs to be erected along these roads as well for motorists to slow down.”

The minister has also advised motorists to drive carefully on our roads.

“Drivers need to be reminded that vehicles are transporting and travelling machines but when they are involved in road accidents leading to serious injury or even death, they have become weapons,” he said.

The call was in response to a road accident that occurred in Nasinu yesterday afternoon when a six-year-old student of Delainamasi Government Primary School got hit by a private car.
