After three years of implementing the Improving Performance in Schools Project (IPSP), the Ministry of Education will soon make changes for school principals, heads of departments and even some assistant teachers, whose performance in the past three years have not improved.
Schools under IPSP have been assisted with resources like computers, science equipment, TVET tools, library books, textbooks and physical upgrading of facilities.
During the three years of its implementation, some schools that were in this category have responded positively and their examination results have really improved. These schools are no longer part of the IPSP.
However, after three years, certain schools have remained in this category and the Ministry will now have to make the necessary changes in the next few weeks.
These changes are inevitable as the Ministry strongly feels that children deserve the best results from schools.
If the Ministry had provided such an enriching exercise to elevate performance and there is still no improvement shown, then a reshuffle of teachers is the next option.
The Ministry hopes that teachers, school management and parents will understand and support the Ministry’s motive behind this planned reshuffle.
As always, whatever initiative the Ministry has planned to implement, the child is always and will always be the focus.
After all, we all have to live and work by the Ministry’s vision: “Education for Change, Peace and Progress.”
