The Fiji Islands Revenue and Customs Authority (FIRCA) has extended the period of registration for Tax Identification Numbers.
FIRCA manager tax officer, Mr Epeli Naua said as part of the 2011 Budget announcement, Tax Identification Numbers (TIN) registration for existing bank account holders had been extended to March 31, 2011.
“ The general public, mostly bank account holders are not taking advantage of the registration period,” Mr Naua said.
“ If bank account holders do not adhere to the registration period they cannot withdraw their funds from the bank.”
Mr Naua said it was important to register and get a Tax Identification Number.
More than 152,000 people have registered through the FIRCA office.
Members of the public are advised to register at the Suva, Lautoka and Labasa office.
