FICAC will bring justice - PM

12/05/2010

The Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama says the establishment of the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) would bring justice to those involved in corrupt practices.

PM Bainimarama made the call while opening the Kadavu Provincial Council meeting today. The Prime Minister said some members of the public had opposed the idea of an anti-corruption body in fear of being exposed.

This included people within Government, churches and people external to these institutions.

“People had opposed the idea simply because they wanted to continue stealing from people,” he said.

Meanwhile, PM Bainimarama said the current Government had also brought down the number of ministers from 35 to 11.

He said the high number of ministers did not justify the work they were doing.
